I've got a friend's 2152 cleaned up and running again but it seems the hand grips are not heating. He thinks they were working last time he used it but isn't really sure.
I've got the IPL and saw the schematic. Does anyone have an easy way to verify whether the generator is working...can you pull the spark and turn flywheel to see if it registers on a voltmeter??
It's got the elements to heat carb as well and the wires have continuity.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Pull the flywheel and check the ring magnet. The only heating failures I have had were from broken magnets.

Thanks for the magnet suggestion OIL. The magnet was in one piece and intact.
The carb heater that goes on metering side had no continuity, everything else checked out fine. I suspect that's all that's wrong but he'll cut with a regular hand grip saw from now on.

Looks like the carb only has one heater, on the intake. The thing on metering side is actually a thermostat which is kaput and replacement price is exorbitant. Yup, regular hand grip saw it is.

wont your handgrip still get warm without the carb heater part. I have a 346 with heated handle and the carb part was removed when the 357 carb was put on it. Last I knew it was still working. Havent used it in a while to know now.

That's what I would have suspected as well but can't find any other fault.

Jonsered 2152 IPL http://www.jonsered.ws/2152.pdf
Shows all the wiring etc for the heated handles. Good Luck.
