Can anyone tell me the initial settings for the lo and hi needle for a P3314 to get it started.

Are you messing with the newer strato version? If I recall right they like more out then normal saws. Like 2 to 2.5 starting point.

Yes, it is a 2013 strato version. It started and idled , but would not rev up. I opened up the hi a bit and it ran good. Once I knew it ran I took bar chain and side covers off for a good cleaning.While the air filter was off for cleaning I started to make sure it was oiling. I also slotted the needles so the owner can adjust carb without splined tool, ( which I have ). Put it all back together, now it's hard to start unless primed thru carb , then it ran well. I have the lo at 2 1/4 turns out where it was originally, and the hi at 2 3/4 turns to warm it up so I could tune the carb. Assembled with air filter on it just won't start. Opening the lo a bit at time end up flooding it.
Now I'm scratching my noggin, WTF. In your opinion are the strato saws harder to tune carb? Thanks for the reply.

I noticed sometimes the strato carbs just go bad. I would rebuild them and still bad. Buy a $15-$22 replacement and all good again.
But be sure you have went through everything and have it narrowed to it is the carb, before doing that.
Check psi , look at piston rings best you can with muffler pulled off and through plug hole and intake side if carb pulled, etc. Check spark and all lines.

Good news, saw runs great. It is a very low hour saw , it sat forever 'cuz owner couldn't keep it running. Set very lean as you said from factory. Two turns on the low and two and a half on the hi. I don't have a tach so I did it by ear. I wish these oilers were adjustable , this oils big time.
