Title: 357 xpg starting and running problem
Post by: FinnishWoodsman on October 16, 2019, 02:57:23 pm
So, my 357 xpg starts very roughly. I have to pull many times and use the choke eventhough the engine is hot already. While holding the throttle everything seems normal, but when laying the saw down to idle it cuts out.
What could cause this?

Check and see if your 357 has the auto decompression.   IMO if so remove it and plug the hole and put reular decomp in the other side of cylinder.
This was what was done to one of mine years back.

Also check to see if you have the old plastic intake clamp and partion.  The plastic ones known to warp and create a air leak. Will burn yor saw up.

3rd Have you rebuilt your carb lately?  Some kits not right for the HDA199 etc.
