That bar dont seem period correct. I know my older 084 bar was orange lettering etc.  That one even has the newer yellow dot they went to.

But I am not up on stihl timeline of stuff

Yes that bar is not the original one which was included in this box sometime ago. That yellow dot indicates that bar as a bar with increased risk of kickback injury insted of the bars with a green dot. It has something to do with the ANSI (American National Safety Institute) kickback requirements.

 045 AVEK should date the saw to the early 1970's

I've only seen pictures of military saws .However on a few of the submarine groups on FB I've seen pictures of nuke fast attack subs surfacing through the ice above the arctic circle using Stihl chain saws to clear the ice off the hatch ways upon surfacing .That would be a job cutting up 3 to  4 feet thick ice slabs .
