Title: Poulan 415 425 445 475 505
Post by: Cut4fun on May 06, 2012, 03:04:53 pm
Has anyone did a before and after test on   415 425 445 475 505 muffler mod.  My 415 runs so strong stock I am not wanting to touch it. But I am wondering about it. Heck I dont even want to touch the cylinder.

Just like the dolmar 6000 I ran yesterday I am having a great appreciation for strong stock saws now days.

If you touch that saw you're NUTZ!
That is a great running 415!

Group pic of the PP415 PP445 PP475 PP505 WT505 before I start selling them all of slowly.  Well maybe real slow as I'm not sure what series of saws I want to persue next.  :-\

The PP425 and other PP505 are in tore down stages and for parts for others right now.

Yes, but one of them looks more like a Partner than a PP to meb - but I am partially color blind? ???

The WT505 is of course cool!  ;D

The yellow 505 is already in members hands here.  505 wise all I got left is my green one.  Then the other yellow ones.

I have the one on my green 505 opened up and baffle removed.  I still wont touch the 415 445 mufflers. Thinking 475 one still stock too.

After talking to dad this Christmas morning. Sounds like I will be picking 2 of these 4 runners I have left to go tackle a oak that came down across the atv path on top of the hill.   I'm thinking just my quad motors. 445 415. 20" and 24". Maybe the wild thing 505 in place of the 415. Will decide when packing up later.

I decided on the PP445 and the new 3450 to check it out more. Hopefully 3450 just a back up and or for dad's trim limbs use if needed.

I am, thing is I am driving the Monte for gas mileage even though gas is under 2 bucks.  I laid cardboard down in the trunk.  Hopefully no drips leave smells.  :-X :o Wife wouldnt be to happy about that. (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/images/smilies/madwife.gif)

That is what I do.   My beater car is a little HHR with hail dents.    Gets good gas mileage and I put the back seat down and haul my saws, tools, wood, trash, groceries, all kinds of stuff.    Oh and I have some big pieces of card board in there to set things on.

Ended up just using the 3450 for everything.  It does have a issue that I am thinking is carb and just stiff diaphragms though.
As your in the cut it acts like it is losing power in the cut and bogs like running out of gas is my guess. Not near the power of  the pp365 I had down here summer time in pine.  I ran the 3450 in a downed pine too plus removed that black oak across the trail on to the hill.

Will be leaving this behind. Dad loves the log carrier I brought down in pic above. So now he wont have to  use the tractor for loading unto trailer. He and my nephew can do it.   http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200612320_200612320
