This one should be coming up next for those going this month. Good luck to my friends in 5ci and hotsaw and if you are chopping may the energy drinks be with you. They dont call it a wood chopping festival for nothing and I never seen so much chopping in my life till last year.

It will be my first year going to Webster Springs, it's the first time I'll be going up against a large number of top tier sawyers.
I've got the weapons to do well, now it's just up me to pull my head out of my arse and put three on the ground quickly.
-
Blood here is last years times for prelim and finals. 5ci has a mistake of one of the top 6 were a DNF, has a same time as another listed.Just remove that name to end of list.

Kyle did a fine job on Sat. 4.6?.. His exchange on the third cut cut caused the chain to bind on the block on Sun.. If not for that, his run on Sun. would have been fast...
The wood was a lot different from Sat. to Sun..

It's good to see that fast as :o saw get a operator it deserves.

Tz Any pics of the new pavilion they built for this?
I'm just glad I got to experience the old wooden raised floor pavilion and it's history. The older guys shared stories early Sunday morning of the past races with ole macs etc in hotsaw class.
-
I do have a couple Kevin, but they are on my laptop at home. It was said that the festival had spent $250,000 on improvements. The show was first class!

Is this it, new pavilion?

Southeastern United States World Championships
Webster County Wood Chopping Festival
Webster Springs, West Virginia
March 20, 2013
Dear Contestant:
We wish to extend you an opportunity to compete at the Forty-Ninth Annual Webster County Woodchopping Festival. This year’s competition is scheduled for Friday May 24th, Saturday May 25th, and Sunday May 26th. We would like to thank those that have previously attended and welcome those interested in competing during 2013.
We are once again expanding our competition days to Friday in order to lessen the work on our weekend volunteers. As you should be aware, Saturday at the WCWF has become a very long day for everyone. To that end, we are commencing competition on Friday at 3 p.m. for the following events – Underhand Handicap, Standing Block Handicap, Master’s Standing Block, and Stock Appearing Saw 0 - 4.99.
In addition, the athletes who attend on Friday can go ahead and eliminate for the axe throw. We will also have two to three heats of springboard on Friday – but those competitors will be limited to the athletes that are competing in the Underhand Handicap, Standing Block Handicap, Master’s Standing Block and or Stock Appearing Saw 0- 4.99.
We are expanding our Championship events (Underhand, Standing, and Springboard) to include the top thirty axe men who register for the event. This will consist of the 12 finalists from 2012 and the next best 18 as determined by our show handicapping committee (Arden Cogar Jr., Melvin Lentz, Paul Cogar, and Matthew Cogar). Should you apply for the Championship events and you are not selected for the championship and are moved to the handicap events, you will be notified no later than May 1st. If you, at your own discretion, because of not being selected for the championship events choose not to attend the event please notify us when we contact you and we will refund your entry fees.
Please complete the attached entry form and return it before April 30, 2013. Entries post marked after this date will be denied and returned to sender. We turn the wood once we know the number of entrants at the entry deadline and getting additional logs for late entries is not possible. Please submit your entries as soon as you receive it.
I will provide a list of paid competitors to the festival members working the entry points of the island. See me first thing, as I will have passes for your family members as well as a detailed event schedule. Hope to see you this year!

Hello everyone;
Hello Everyone,
Please find attached the entry form for the 2014 Webster County Woodchopping Festival. Please forward this to those I have left off this email string as my address book is not all inclusive. We are attempting to save on mailing as many of the entries as we can. Please print this entry off and post mark it by April 30. If you need us to mail you a copy, please respond to this email and let us know.
Please note we have made some rule changes and added two new events for 2014 – a hotsaw elimination and a 3 cube stock saw – both of these events will run on Friday afternoon. We are actively seeking sponsors for these events. We have had to increase our entry fees to fund the minimal prize money’s in these two new events in the event we cannot find sponsors.
If anyone has any questions please don’t hesitate to call upon me or Kristy.
Looking forward to seeing all of you this summer.
All the best,
Jamie

Webster 3 cube class was canceled for this year.
But now 3ci's are back on.
We are having the 3 cube at the WCWF on Friday night.
« on: Today at 12:52 »
No need to send in the entry indicating it. We are collecting the $15 entry fee on Friday as cash and paying all the entry fee money out as prize money. We will likely have 4 places for the event with 40%, 30%,20%, and 10% of the entry fee money as the pay out.
We are not going to put together heat sheets for either the 3 cube or the 5 cube as many people registered last year and did not show. We had 12 heats of one of event when we could have 6 because of the no shows.
We will simply call your name in the heat and if the person does not show, we will move someone into that heat so we can run 4 at a time each heat. So everyone will need to stay on their toes.
If you know folks with 3 cubes, please spread the word. I'll put something on facebook and the WCWF page shortly.
All the best,
Jamie

apply for the Championship events and you are not selected for the Championship and are
moved to the Handicap events, you will be notified no later than May 6th. If you, at your own
discretion, because of not being selected for the Championship events choose not to attend the
event please notify us when we contact you and we will refund your entry fees.
Please complete the attached entry form and return it before April 1, 2016. Entries post marked
after this date will be denied and returned to sender. We turn the wood once we know the
number of entrants at the entry deadline and getting additional logs for late entries is not
possible. So please submit your entries as soon as you receive it.
We would also like to make you aware that Stihl USA has provided the prize purse to host a
U.S. Title Underhand event that will be selected from the top 12 Americans (based upon finals
and preliminary times) who will be divided into two heats of 6 and a final of 6 that will be held at
the conclusion of the event on Sunday.
Finally, even though it does not appear on the entry form, we will once again be hosting a 3 cube stock saw on Friday evening and the prize purse will be sweepstakes – all the entry fees will go toward paying the prize purse.
If you notice that we left someone off this email chain, please forward this entry on to them if they would be interested in coming to compete. And if you can, just shoot me a quick email to let me know that you got the entry so we won’t have to follow up with a mailing.
We hope to see you all this year!
All the best,
Removed old entry form. Use updated one below.

Updated entry form 2016.
Copy paste = After I sent the email on Saturday, I was contacted by a few competitors and shown I had inadvertently left a few events off the entry. My sincerest apologies. Too many irons in the fire. Here is an updated entry and we hope we’ve got everything in this one.
We hope to see everyone during May.
All the best, Jamie and Kristy

I doubt it. He has built a few 880s that I remember seeing
-
Only 140cc hotsaws I knew of years ago built by Dennis was for big wood or sent to Australia for their style racing.
I sent him a builder stock 3120 when I was selling off. ;) So betting he has done 3120's too.

@ej your first webster hotsaw finals win? I can find the list I had saved years back.
-
Congratulations EJ!
Sure is nice to see the hotsaw event alive and well today.
30 years ago there was a push in some areas to ban hotsaws. But the grand finale at shows was what kept people coming back for more.
