Jonsered 801
« on: October 15, 2016, 07:43:29 pm »
I just wanted to post this over here in the Jonsered section of the forum.
The saw is 80cc and I was told that it is similar to the Jred 80.     I do not know what the differences are myself.
The carburetor is bad and the fuel filter and fuel line is bad.   Replaced the fuel filter and fuel line.   The carb is a Tillotson HS.
I rebuilt the carb and got the saw to run but the idle is all over the place so going to replace the seals.
Cannot find a parts list but I pulled the seal and measured on the PTO side.   15X30X7mm.   A easy seal to find and have one on order.

I wanted to show this picture of the oiler and fuel tank vent.
You will notice on the crank there is a cam with a plunger pushing on it.   That is the oiler.
Then coming out toward the top rear you will see the end of a black rubber fuel line sticking out and that is the tank vent.
Interesting.

I got the IPL and a service manual compliments of one of our northern members.    Some great information on this saw.    It sure is nice having access to all the resources.

Very cool.

I have searched for the 801 info before for others in past but never came across the IPL or manuals either. Seemed like a 1 or 2 year made saw here.

Figure out the differences in  801 etc?

I think acres listed the saw as being made one year.

I replaced my 80 with the 801 around 1977 or maybe it was 76. The 801 and 90 were made up until 1979 when the 910 replaced them. The last of the true Jonsereds.
The 801 never cut as good as the 80, something in the porting. 40 years is hard on my memory  :D
The newer 90 got the power back but was to late as my 910 and 920 were quicker and lighter saws.

Nope wrong Mike needs to get that edited. 80 introduced first in the early 1970s then replaced later by the 801.
I'll dig out and post info later.
