They were very popular in Canada, had a good support network and were reliable by the standards of the time. I regret letting a running RA go, it was one of the first with an all position carburetor.

Roy you have a piece of history  there and it only got better with the next model introduced.  The 1959 Stihl Contra/Lightning was designed around that model. Lot's of "spies" in the woods back in the day. :D
