It is very easy for a person who works with saws daily to take a step up in saw performance. Back in the day I owned 3 254xps and had great luck with them, all around good saw. I sold all 3 in working order a couple  years ago after I bought a 261ms. Just couldn't take them to the woods after running the 261. I expect the 2054 is about the same saw as 254. I have also switched to 18" bars on my two bigger saws. They happened to come with 18"bars and I really like them. The 2054 has a 15" bar. If anyone has never tried the 261 they will be pleasantly surprised by the balance, lightness and speed of this saw.  I have tried 026, 260, 361,362 and none of these saws impressed me. I am not a stihl man but I like the 261.
