590 piston
« on: November 29, 2014, 10:03:16 pm »
Does anyone have the dimensions of a 590 piston ?
  Or no if a 535 piston will work in a 590 ?

Those two saws have the same bore and stroke. 45 X 32  50.8 cc

It is likely the 535 was open port and the 590 was closed port with a windowed piston?

I found a NOS 535 piston today that I didn't even know  I had.. It is a windowed piston with a 10 mm wristpin. But I can't find my old 590 piston to compare to.. I might just have to stick it in and do some measuring..

That would be best.

I consider that you are in luck?

Check the wrist pin and also will the skirt width and length cover the exhaust port when the piston is at top dead center?

Stick both pistons on the same wrist pin and compare the compression height and skirt length

535 piston is NLA.  Scarce as hens teeth.  Where did you come across one?  PN's are different 535-503-1638-01 590-503-1687-01.

I had 590 pistons in past. But dont know if I posted  any specs anywhere.

Did save Mitch's  for 45mm piston and a 535 here.  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/jonsered/jonsered-535-472/msg4224/#msg4224

590 piston option and 2 different oem 590 cylinders out there.
If you have the ones like I had or modify yours like stihlbro did you can run a non windowed piston in the closed port. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/jonsered/jonsered-590/20/
