I've done the conversion of a 365XT to a 372XT, easy peasy. Your Dremel and a tamper proof T-20 Torx driver is all you need to do it, takes an hour or two. IMO the XT saws make a little more torque than the XP version.

I see what you mean, but the 372XT actually is designated 372xpXT.  ;)

Of course there is no such thing as a single "best" firewood saw, as it will vary a lot with the wood and other conditions!   ;D

The BEST firewood saw is one with a nice sharp chain...if it happens to be on a 372 then its even better  ;D

Have to get Spike60 involved...

SO best firewood saw for 98 percent of us is the 2258.... :)

For those blocking big wood... its a tossup between the 2166/2172 and 2188 when the bar length gets in the 28 inch range.
Low budget.. 2166. Making a good living off firewood from big logs, go with the power 2188.

( For me... I have a 555 but usually use a project saw. Today a Fugly 350 derivative along side a tweaked Jonsered 920 )

I'm with Walt on the 2258. With a 20" bar MSRP is $650, there's a $100 rebate until the
end of September making it $550. That's $200 less than a MS362, making it a hard combination
of performance and price to beat.

Some apparently did. That really leaves only the 2172/2166 and the 2188 to choose from, imo.

I'm now too old to be out cutting in weather like that to need a heated handle. I do have a Dolmar 6800iH though.
