I will say barely noticeable in speed if you run it in firewood pile and are a casual user.
If you are good at handling saw when branching thin spruce for ex in thinning, then it is a good thing to have 8 pin.
I guess your work will be done in a firewood pile of small to medium sized wood so 8 will work fine as it was intended.
If you have lots of big wood and heavy cuts with 15" + bars another saw more appropriate for the job is to recommend or 7 pin and caution.
As alway's razor sharp chains that cut and no load on saw....
