chris54,

I am at the same point in putting an ECHO saw back together.  Part of the project involves a new piston and rings and the same question regarding honing has been on my mind.  Wish I had the answer for you, but will be watching this thread closely to see what recommendations you receive on this subject so I will know the best course of action at this point.

You dont have to deglaze but sometimes I do with a green scotchbrite pad.

Chainsawrepair,

I read your recommendation to chris54.  I am guessing the same is true relative to my ECHO chainsaw when installing the new piston and rings.  The cylinder appears to be in good shape.  Will not plan to hone the cylinder unless I notice something I am not aware of at this point in time.
