Jonsered 2077 & 2083 ignition
« on: October 03, 2013, 07:31:28 pm »
I have a customer with a suspect 2077 ignition and I'm out of used ones. Has anyone used a coil out of a Husqvarna 272, etc. ???

Same flywheel on the 2077, but that doesn't mean much......I suspect it will work, but wondered if anyone knows any substitutes for the green coil???

Excellent!!!

That's what I suspected......The list of saws that use that coil is huge, and I have a heap of coils for them!

Thanks!!!

We're lucky that they interchange to that degree, cause it makes completing project saws so much easier. very much the same for the newer generation of saws as well. This morning I put a 455 rancher coil in a 372. Wire is a little on the short side, but it should be fine.

Not sure that this info is correct as I looked one up last night. The Husqvarna EPC says that the coils for these saws are unique to the chassis. The Partner coils may indeed work, as this is a Partner design. But I have doubts that the 51/55 coil will work in this chassis. Did anyone try this yet to see if it fits?

The 272 husky coil works too. Several guys here using them in 475 2083 etc.

Whatever the 272 ones that is also in this list.  Ignition Coil for Husqvarna Chainsaw 50 51 55 61 272 266 254 257 261 262 New

I know man of stihl put husky coil in 2083 and modfiedmark did in 2 475.

I don't want to go through looking up the part # again it superceds about 100 times.  ;D

Basically you want a 55 Husky coil. 50,51,55, 262, 61, 268, 272 all use the same coil and will work.

I used coils from a 55 on my 475's and you will sure enjoy being able to tune the carb without it limiting out at 10K.

Thanks Kevin.  :)

The coil numbers can be real misleading. They do supercede a silly amount of times. Sometimes due to a vendor change. Sometimes for what they refer to as "improved functionality".  :P Then there are the blue coils which are limited to different RPM specs. And now there are coils being updated with digital advance.

But for the most part, if it fits it will work. And we have the "old" coil we are discussing above, and the "new" coil as on the 346/372 etc. The only ones to stay away from are the green coils which belong in the concrete saws and cut out below 10,000 rpm.

Of course the new auto-tune saws have a bunch of new coils............. ???

Well, for the record.....I have that 2077 back on my bench! >:(

I have tried everything I can think of on this one. I think it's a carb gremlin.

Vac tests great, swapped ignitions, plugs and wires, carb is clean as a whistle and freshly kitted. (pop off pressure is good and holds pressure)

It runs great (some of the time)..... Very inconsistent, but every once in awhile it will die at idle and no way will it restart and it's flooded after a few pulls.......It's one of those saws I wish I'd never seen. This problem is the reason the owner got a deal on it too, from the previous owner.
