Is that cedar?  Looks like what I had left after taking down a mystery cedar in the front yard a while back.  Smelled good...

Once I get my 335XPT California back together I'll compare it with my buddy's 200T.

Sometimes there are over grown arborvitae or juniper shrubs in peoples yards that are a little like cedars?  They can grow up to be good sized trees.

It didn't look or smell like aborvitae or juniper.  Didn't get the 'berries' either.  We have junipers in the front yard too, and they're quite different than this.

It was a weird, bushy thing.  Two large beams that grew from a fork.  The limbs grew out of the beams up high and then snaked back down along the beam before curving out and greening.  Nasty/scratchy/spider filled thing to limb out.  Wood and chips smell like cedar.  Soft and light when dry.  Meant to freehand mill a few slabs of it, but that never happened.  Wasn't straight enough anyways.  Ended up using it as saw testing logs...

Doesn't look like a Eastern red cedar (I haven't been west of the Mississippi very often). Yet, I would have had to refer to it as a cedar and leave anything more specific alone.

Eastern red cedars that are so prominent in the Eastern USA are somewhat related to the juniper family.

But Western red cedar belongs to the cypress family.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thuja_plicata  is somewhat related the the arborvitae. It doesn't have the blue berries.

I was stationed at Ft Hood Texas in the Army and the Northern ranges are mostly covered in cedar but they were more like the Eastern red cedar that grows wild in Ohio. Unusual to see one greater than 24" DBH

Those Western Cedars can grow huge. 13' DBH

I'm thinking it's Western Red Cedar.

Aaron I couldnt imagine a muffler modded 335 hanging with a 200 with just the spark screen pulled. Still interested in knowing test results.

Back up just caught a wording. Is your 335 a California Special 45cc  ?  OK that could be very interesting.   :P 8)

Yessir it is.  Finally got it from my friend Dave (he brought it disassembled in a box as a Christmas gift........ugh).  Looks like the cylinder will clean up.  Just some transfer.  Have located a new OEM piston/ring for it (43mm).  The 'regular' 335/338 pistons are easy to find.  The 43mm took a tad more searching...
