Here's basic lowdown on the corporate filter ladder. Larger the micron, the larger the particles it will pass:

Black Mesh= 80 micron; part number ends in 01
Yellow mesh= 40 micron; part number ends in 02
White with flock= about 30 micron; part number ends in 03.
 
If they are updated, as they are about to be on all of these saws, the last two digits change to 04, 05, 06.

A lot of the new Jonnys have been fitted with the wrong filter from the factory. My 2260's and 2253's came though with the black 80 micron filter which is really only intended for winter use. It should only come from the factory on the WH or G models with the heated grips. My 2252's and 2258's have the yellow filter.

The flock filter is best in most cases, but the yellow filters are fine for year round use.
