I got a 490 and really like the way the saw runs and handles. My money invested in my "little hobby" is far out pacing my money made and this is one of the saws I have marked for resale. The trouble is every time I pick it up and use it I comment "what a nice saw it is", so I'm torn about selling it.

Picked up a jonsered 490 yesterday.  Saws was dusty, but topend looked great.  2nd pull fired off and runs, idles and oils too.

Saw is already sold. Lasted about 2mins on CRG.

Found the old info and pics of my jonsered 490 heated handle today.

Some info from 2009 =  Tag shows made in 1982 with only 4 digit serial number. History is saw was bought new by a racer and set aside after test cuts, later sold to another racer to build a race saw, but he didnt want to butcher it with the heated handles and it set on a shelf and got dusty again, then it made its way to Ohio where I found it just setting collecting more dust.
I am going to leave this saw as a original myself, but I am going to try out those heated handles this winter.
I noticed the dawg and chain catcher was removed (but I have both), which is something a racer will do to keep from tearing up a good chain.

This 490 with heated handles is still all stock.

Did you get a chance to run that saw this winter? How did the heated handles compare to other models? I just dragged out my 490 last weekend. Been pulling out whatever odd saws grab my attention when I go into the cellar. Nothing wrong with a stock saw either. I've moved away from the notion that every saw needs to be modified.  I never mess with a saw if it's the only one of that model that I have. Especially with saws like this for which parts are scarce. It's a bit of history the way it came off the line, so I like to keep it that way.

Both my heated handles are in collectors hands now. The Jonsered 490 and Partner 5000 plus.

I loved the heated handles on them compared to the new style on the 346's I ran.
