I recently picked up a nice 49SP. I am in need of an ignition module however. How difficult is it going to be to find a replacement?

There is one on feebay now $$$ starter & coil. Looks like the starter is in nice shape and he says the coil works.

Not gonna be easy to find one of those babies.

I looked at the e-bay listing. That starter/coil is for a 52E. 49SP coils are mounted to the cylinder and are not part of the starter.

Yeah, you really can't. Probably unintentional mistake there, but a nuisance to sort it out for whoever buys it. Funny thing is that a 52E setup like that is harder to find.

Difficult or not these saws are worth saving!  I really like mine.

Without a doubt! Along with the 70E Jonsered hit an early bullseye for an ideal 50cc/70cc two saw plan. I've got 5 of each and run them as often as any of my new saws. There are few other saws from the era that still feel contemporary when you use them today. Great saws that have aged well! :)

Are you sure the coil is bad?  Have you checked the points condensor?
