jonsered 535 saw - bar oiler, fuel lines config
« on: July 19, 2014, 04:22:22 pm »
Hey Guys,

Im new here and wondering if anyone can help me out. I picked up an old 535 that was a donation because the saw needed a few repairs (carb Kit). When we fired it up we got it working but it remained unreliable and had to play with the adjustments constantly. I have 3 problems that Id like some help with

1. After the carb rebuild the saw doesn't start on the first pull like it did before I rebuilt it. Once started the thing runs like a top

2. Im looking for a picture of the fuel line configuration as these were disconnected when I got it and made an educated guess where everything goes.
    - What line is fuel in?
    - What line is the vent
    - what is the line that goes from the right of the carb to the base of the head?

3. Bar oiler - Previous owner mentioned having issues with this last time he used it (4 years ago) but it appeared to work when we tried again... Now since I rebuilt the carb the oiler is not working.
     - I emptied the oil tank, found the little pickup hose and cleaned the tip
     - I added gas in the oil tank and shook it for a while to clean and flush it out
     - If I blow through the pickup hose I cant get any air through (don't know if this is normal)
     - Checked the copper line to the bar and it looks undamaged

Thanks for any insight and pictures that you can provide

Welcome to the site.

I dont think any of my saws start on 1st pull.

Jonsered 535 IPL might help with fuel lines. Will show oiler too.  http://www.jonsered.com/ddoc/JONI/JONI1987_AAaa/JONI1987_AAaa_I8700002_.pdf

1.  Check needle lever height too low hard to start, too high floods.
2. Vent line is on right side of tank shouldhavea little canister looking thing on it.  Line from cyl. base provides vac/press for pumpin carb.
3.  Should be able to blow through pickup line.
Attached an IPL it should help you.  We were posting together haha.

Thanks Redneck,

I have this parts list/diagram printed part of the problem its not abundantly clear on where things go (especially the fuel lines)

Looking at this diagram I cant see the oil pump, I can however see the pump drive that looks to be removable from the bottom.

What I meant by not starting like it did prior 2-3 pulls, now 6-15 pulls but once running everything is good

Richen up the L jet an 1/8 of a turn (counter clockwise). That should help your starting a bit.
