This one isnt windowed either and I would have no problems putting it in a work saw that was closed port.   ;)  I'm talking stock working work saws here. Not trying to squeeze every ounce of performance from a hot woods port or racesaw.  ::)

Did anyone yet confirm that the 353/2152 piston will work in the 590?

I agree that the non-windowed style ought to work fine in a jug with the transfers open to the case. That's the set up on the 2171/372 and we know there's no problem there.

I used a 51 piston

I overlooked it before.  Husqvarna 51 piston was used in the 590.

Bumped this thread for some info.
I have a customers Jonsered 590 I did some work on to get it running again.
Pretty impressive 50cc saw from back in the day, gives my 261cm a run for its money.
I need a brake band for it before I give him his saw back, don't know him and worried about liability with no chain brake. The 503459701 band is no longer available so having a hard time finding one, even a used one.
I found a Poulan 505303836 is a cross reference to it. Is that right? Is the Poulan 325 a rebadged 590? Thanks.

Thanks Ray,  yes I found those models too. Craftsmen saws also.
Nothing on ebay
I'll try looking through some Husqvarna 50-55 ipl's.
