Guy from France shared this on the jonsered 670.
Translated he said  says this =
I start with the poster:
In big letters
When it comes to taking down ones we're hard to beat!
In small letters
It's stronger than it, the Jonsered 670 Champ is designed to win so it  wins, triple world champion of lumberjacks, it will also win your trust  day after day!

This info again too.

pics of 3 tags from champs.

Stuff I learned on the 670 Champ when I picked up one few years back. = Eric - Taplinhill = All 670's were closed port and had big transfers  compared to a 266. The 268xp is much closer to a 670. The Champ replaced  the Super II in late 1992/ early 1993, but was just a name change. The  670 Champ was discontinued (at least by Tilton) in 1997.

Even though I found IPL's dated 99.

Tags on Champs I seen all look like this.

Magnus digging up some service bulletins.

If you have for 625/630/670
0100054, 625. Jonsered Service Bulletin 1990.04.02 New handle, brake/barcover, muffler (in some markets).
0170067, 625. Jonsered Service Bulletin 1990.05.15. New oil-tank vent.
117 0062, 625 II. Jonsered Service bulletin (1991) Production start.
0170067, 625 II. Jonsered Service Bulletin 1990.05.15. New starter, air guide.

SB B9100012 (1991.15)

600-Series
We have now started to produce the II-serie of model 625,
630 Super and 670 Super.
You will in a coming SMB be informed about all new part
numbers and technical data.
The new II-series will be introduced into our production as
from serial # :
625 II : 117 0062
630 Super II : 117 0001
670 Super II : 115 0126

First mentioning of Champ I found is number changes in SB B9200010.
It refers to changes done and new IPL for 625 & 670 1992.08.15/01
Reference # 108 07 05-70
This I.P.L is valid for saws with serial #'s higher than
625: 223 0001
670: 223 0001

The heat shield 503 51 99-01 is introduced in
our production on 670 Super II/CHAMP, but it can
also be used as spare for 625 & 630. The heat
shield reduces the exhaust port running
temperature. The impulse hose 503 40 06-01 is
shorter to reduce the risk of pinching during
assembly of the cylinder cover to saw. Excluded
from the list is spring 504 21 00-23.

My top cover was dated 97 and clutch cover part was from 96 ipl.

I ask what the 670 champ with heated handles and the V on the metal tag in pic above means. Since first time seeing.

So now we wondering if the later W WH heated saws was later due to Elux changing code.

So the V on serial tag stands for what I wonder?  Magnus said =  V is "Värme" heated handles, W is "West coast".
Heated handles is optional, for some reason not many were sold.
Here most pro's don't run saws without.
Saws that didn't have could be best in every other way, but still could not sell here.
The reason 620, 630, 670 didn't sell much here was market control. Elux wanted Husqvarna brand to sell better so they priced Jonsered versions higher, marketing was less = less sales.
It is Husqvarna design, hole "162-family".
This was beginning of Jonsered's end as chainsaw brand. Elux bought Jonsered chainsaw brand. Not the rest of Jonsereds Fabriker that continued a bit longer.
Chainsaws was not the big thing...

Evan  = It looks like the heated handle designation changed from V to W with the start of the 3 series based saws, the 670 is V for heated and W for west coast while the 2071 was W for heated. I see 2171's started with W and ended with WH, so I will see if I can track down the change.

The Jonsered dealer I worked at in the early 2000's here in the land of -40 didn't stock any heated saws. Very few customers even knew they existed, occasionally someone would read the brochure and order one in.
I do see more heated saws now, but many of the people I fix saws for still have no idea they exist.
I know from talking to my current local Husky dealer which has existed since the early 80's, before logging went to mostly mechanized here; that the extra weight on the heated 162 chassis Husky's because of the mag tank did make it a hard sell, and the majority of saw sales in that era was the 266.
The significant extra weight reputation was expanded to all saws with heated handles, so noone even asked.
I'm not sure what happened on the Jonsered side, by far the best seller locally in the same era was the 630, and they of course didn't use a magnesium tank with heated handles, so I am not sure what the issue was there, but I have yet to find a heated one locally.
