I've helped this CRG member out on his poulan jred partner saws in past.  He in turn returned the favor.

He knew where a old jonsered dealer was that had some parts still. He went on a little pick and grab some stuff and shared with me.

So the remaining pieces to my puzzle are on the way.

Me to from what I read.

Probably someone put on a 670 or just covers at one time.

Ray's info shows what it is from.

Another guy just bought one on CRG on his local MP as a 670 cover on recoil but thinks now it is a 630

More tidbits by spike60 aka Bob  =  There are two intake systems on these 670's. (same goes for the 625). The wire clamp was replaced around 1989 with the band clamp. Clearly visible in the early pics. Steve; what are you looking at? :)

But to make things more fun, it wasn't just the clamp that was changed. The boot obviously needed to be changed as well. And in order to accept the new boot, even the cylinder casting was changed, getting a longer intake neck. The new cylinders have a ++ cast into them.

There are some interchangeable option, but I don't think it goes both ways. The new boot can be used on the old cylinder providing you also use the wire clamp. Definitely not room for the hose clamp on the early saws.

I agree that the switch to a 272 top end doesn't accomplish much if anything over a good 670. It's a good option though if the 670 kit is toast, and a great option for a 625.

@Spike60  or others with handle angle info etc.   IMO the black handle is to close compared to the husky one.

Getting closer. Inner piece came up short.

Can see the gap when installed.

But manually a working chain brake with the new band etc.

The brake handles are supposed to match the top handle as far as the angles go. Also, there is some difference between the top handles between the early twin coil vs the newer single coil saws on the Jonnys. Not sure, but I don't think that's the case on the Husky.
