I believe the 24" bar I put on the 801 was a D009 mount that I opened up the slot on.   I also drilled the oil holes out a little bigger too.   It mounts good and oils good.
I ran the saw some more today and I am surprised at the power it has.   I really had no idea.

Here is a video of the J-Red 801.   The log was moving around a lot and would have cut a little better if I had strapped it down.  The chain I did a quick sharpening with the dremel and one of those small round stones.    The wood is some aspen that was cut down a couple of months ago and is still petty green.   The bar on the saw is a 24".     The wind was blowing pretty good also.

Good old saws that were nearly indestructible. Still see a few homeowners running 801 and 90's today as they were big sellers up here back in the day.

I was removing a big poplar for a cottage owner a few years ago and he brings out a 90 with all the decals still on it.
We had a little bucking race side by side. I was using my early edition 372XP.
He had a brand new 73LPX out of the box, my  LGX was half filed back and sharp.
The 90 beat me soundly :o

I think where this saw will really show its power is in some bigger wood.   I could lean on it pretty good.

Roger they shine in bigger wood. But to add to my above post we were bucking 16"-18" poplar.
You may be sticking a 90 p/c on your 801 ;D
But I remember back in the day the two were very close in power. The early  silver top 80 a little stronger.

Holmen this saw is bone stock and still running the spark arrester.    It will have plenty of power for me.    I really do not come up against wood that is bigger than 20" across very often.   Just a cool old saw that you gave us some great history on.

When you look throughly at the quality of build these old 'sereds have, it's easy to see they would cost 5X plus to manufacture today.
Men where men back in the day and weight was not an issue, quality of build was.  ;D
