This is true.

It was a shakey time for many.
Partner guy's starting to get used to the red color, suddenly had to go with orange ones.
It was hard times for sure!

Following is a listing of serial #'s to match introduced
improvements during 1990. Listing is valid for saws produced
in Huskvarna plant. Saws produced elsewere will not be listed
because of difficulties in getting serial #'s.
Please look up earlier SMB's for the full story. Please be
aware of that you will find the same serial # on different
models.
MODEL 2041/2045
As from serial # : 040 0001 we introduced a corrected
air conductor. See service bulletin 1990.11.08/01
As from serial # : 047 0001 -new tank cap holder. See
SMB 33:1990.
MODEL 455/535
As from serial # : 008 0001 (455) & 008 0151 (535) -new
material(Sorbitex) for recoil spring. No bulletin issued.
As from serial # : 021 0001 washer underneath flywheel
nut excluded. See SMB 29:1990.
As from serial # : 033 0001 (455) & 032 0176 (535) -new
inertia trigged chain brake. See service bulletin 1990.08.
15/01.
MODEL 2051 TURBO
As from serial # : 003 0420 -new air filter with rubber
supports and changed air filter cover. See service bulletin
1990.05.30/01 and SMB 3:1990.
As from serial # : 003 0516 -improved fitting of inner tube
in muffler and extra drilled outlet holes on Eurpoean
versions. See SMB 8:1990.
As from serial # : 008 0269 -7T rim instead of 8T rim on
most versions. See service bulletin 1990.05.30/01.
As from serial # : 034 0001 -new ignition module, new
cable set, new Turbo nozzle( later on we also changed the
nozzle to have "clips" instead of shrink hose at lower
portion), new fan housing/starter with rubber support, new
throttle wire, new limiter, new air filter and filter
cover, new o-ring, new screw, new muffler(CW & W saws),
new preheated intake air valve. See SMB 16:1990 and
24:1990.
As from serial # : 034 0001 we also introduced an reinforced
oil pump cover, stronger spring for safety latch, reinforced
chain catcher and a sticker on skandinavian saws.
These parts keep their part #'s, except sticker.
As from serial # : 034 0007 -cylinder with shorter cooling
fins on flywheel side to prevent dirt build up. No bulletin
issued.
As from serial # : 037 xxxx -cylinder with changed impute

As from serial # : 040 0022 -flange 503 18 41-01 with
better fitting for throttle wire. No bulletin issued.

As from serial # : 045 0150 -better hoses for preheated

016 0016 (670) -new starter, air conductor and oil tank

As from serial # : 032 0001 (630) -KS cylinder. See SMB

As from serial # : 034 007Q (625), 035 0174 (630) &
035 0157 (670) -spike mounted on saw. See SMB 25:1990.
As from serial # : 037 0157 -new air filter holder. See

As from serial # : 047 0005 (625), 049 0001 (630 & 670)-
correctly assembled hose for oil tank vent. See SMB 32:1990
MODEL 2077
As from serial # : 011 0102 -reinforced pulley. Part #
remains unchanged. No bulletin issued. Concerns test saws.
As from serial # : 031 0001 -new muffler gasket. See SMB
33:1990.
As from serial # : 033 0001 -internally reinforced European
muffler. No bulletin issued.
As from serial # : 039 0052 -reinforced crankcase to
prevent breakages and for better fitting for muffler screws.
No bulletin issued.
As from serial # : 041 0001 -washer underneath clutch
excluded and a longer oil pump drive wheel introduced. See
SMB 32:1990.

I don't think that document leaves much doubt about what the situation was with the manufacture of all decent Jonsered saw models at that point. Of course different parts could be made basically anywhere, as always.

A lot of changes were going on between the Elux owned brands around that time, for sure!

I don't care who made it. It was one of the best saws that I ever had. Great pulp saw. Easy on gas. Cleanest running saw I ever owned, both filter and cylinder head. Lost the Jonsered dealer before the 2055 came out.

A great saw in my books.
