....
.
Serial #on sticker is BHVXS.059EA
 .....

That's not the serial number. The number plate is a black metal one - to find it, remove the clutch cover, and look to the rear of it, partially under the rear part of the handlebar on that side of the saw.

As others said, get rid of the cat muffler if it hasn't been changed out already.

They were one of my favorite saws in my logging days. Have a ported one that I will never part with. Heated handle version.

I'm suffering from sellers remorse. A ported 359/2159 are surprisingly strong saws but a well done 562 is head and shoulders above it
Like they said husky 359 = jonsered 2159.  Cylinder if I remember has removal transfer covers too.  Basically a bigger bore cylinder on a 357xp crankcase.

$200 is a good buy here, so up your way it a super deal IMO.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think a 359 has a 357 crankcase. I remember Ed putting a 359 jug on a 357 saw for KFtree and they were calling it a 358.
The 357 has a smaller crankcase and stuffers I believe.
End result was not much gain. This was about 2005 so my memory is foggy.
Excellent saw ported, I found them doggy in stock form and not very impressive, but for $200 I'd buy.

Thanks Troll.  My 670 has the data plate in plain sight.  Wonder why they took to hiding them?  I will get the #.

As for the muffler, where is the best place for a non-cat replacement?  Can these (mufflers) be modded?

The case is the same, it is the crank stuffers on the 357xp crank that make the difference in case volume.

Yep thats the difference crank stuffers only, that I know and or aware of.  Crankcases are the same.

Stuffers are only $12 apiece new and snap in place I think.  ???

OK, got the serial #.
2011 1900083

So I assume yr of manf 2011?

660mag mentioned removing the cat from the muffler.  What's involved in this?  How much performance increase do you see?

This will be primarily a firewood saw.  I love my 026 but I like a little more bar (it's 20").  I need to stick a chain on the 2159 before I get serious, but it sure balances nice with the 24" bar.  Think I'm going to like it, just wish we had a local dealer.  Closest one I know of is almost 200 miles away.

Unfortunately most of the aftermarket mufflers for the 357/359 have a single pipe outlet and are made like the European version of the muffler.

To remove the catalytic reactor involves grinding the seam off the muffler to separate the halves and then you have to knock the reactor out of the interior baffle. When you are done you have to weld the muffler back together.

A new non-cat OEM muffler is expensive. A good used one may be an alternative but I didn't see any on Ebay? you might check with Chainsawr or Sawagain
