I can't remember for sure if it was the micro or coil that was different.  The original coils were the same (99% sure of that)  ;D

I've been testing one of the carbs William sent me and its holding strong.  Brad will be getting that one for the long term.   The other one sent to me is giving me trouble so you will be getting a 555 carb pulled from a squished saw.  I do need your addy though as I can't find that box.

A side note, I've had no trouble boring these carbs.  Ed has said he bores them as well.

The only issue I see with boring the carb is changing fuel delivery. The low pressure signal would be weaker if the venturi was enlarged......I think it may cause the engine to go leaner rather than adding more fuel.

I think they are getting plenty of air flow through the strato ports so why would the carb need to be bored?

The only intended purpose of the strato venturi is to charge the transfers so that volume is tiny compared to the case volume.  The rest of the system is standard.  The strato air is thrown out the exhaust making the same principals apply, better flow, better performance

I have not seen a saw run  outside of its auto tune ability yet, less an air leak.  Heck even then Terry Landroms ran for 20 some odd tanks before I convinced him the base was leaking like a siv.

Many ways to skin a cat though  :)

I see what you are saying here.......the air that is drawn (or forced, if you apply physics, lol) through the strato butterflies never gets into the case.....just fills the transfers. Well now......I knew that just never thought it through. Good stuff here Mitch. I'm thinking again.....that gets me into trouble ya know.

See this is where traditional BD times are thrown off.  You've noticed on the Husky stratos, the BD is 8-11 degrees.  To me they are opening sooner to purge the comb chamber with the clean air then introduce the charge.  The extra duration is needed for the whole process to complete.  So say you change the BD to 6 degrees, some of the charge may make it to the muffler.

I was trying to get Terry to grasp this concept after he told me that he was upping the BD to 22°......He never could hear me over his ego though.
