the best part of the saw was the Turbo filtration.

In all honesty I think that filter is just plain stupid. 

Why would you do that?
That being said, the fully developed "air injection" wasn't adopted on those saws before in 1992. The early 7700 and 2077, the 445, 415 and early 660 didn't have it - but had a "prefilter" instead.
Air injection was first used on the 2051 in 1987, and then on the 262xp in 1989.

All had "induction trough the fan" though - but that was a much older invention, at least dating back to the 1960s on chainsaws (Pioneer).
