Where are Jonsered saws built?
« on: January 08, 2015, 10:42:18 am »
I've been selling Jonsered for over a year now and alot of people ask "where are they built?"
With Stihl I can say with certainty which ones are built in Germany, and the US, we don't stock the trimmers built in China.

So as a general rule I've been telling everyone "they're made in Sweden" but I know this isn't true.

So does anyone have any idea which models of Jonsered saws are made where?

A proper answer may be hard to come by?

Generally the so called pros are Made in Huskvarna
The homeowner plastics may be made in USA, Japan, or China of some parts made from either of these countries.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

All models with metal cases are made in Sweden (Husqvarna factory in Huskvarna). There are no Zenoah made models in Jonsered colors so far - but I assume it is just a matter of time (Zenoah are the real brand name for the "Redmax" saws sold in the US).

Until recently, only the very cheapest plastic cased ones were made (assambled really) in the US (Poulan factory), but there have been signs that the production of more plastic cased ones have been moved there (at least orange ones). There was plans for moving assambly of the very cheapest models to China some time ago - but I have seen no updates on that "project" - and no signs that it actually happened.... ???

This was pretty close to what I had guessed about the various productions locations

Straight from Jonsered

Jonsered has in-house product developers and several patented designs. Manufacturing takes place in 20 factories in 10 countries, including Sweden, Norway and the US. Marketing is handled by subsidiary companies and agents in 30 countries. Dealers number around 5,300.

The 238 is a poulan based saw made in the US. If they get a version of the Redmax designed T435 that Husky has, it's made in china. Everything else is Sweden.

That stuff about 20 factories in 10 countries mostly refers to parts and accesories. You can see the country of origin on most parts packages. Finland, Germany, lot's of places.
