They can be tweeked a tad if you want .By it's very design the 10 series are pullers but that aren't revers  unless you fiddle with them .

The porting is  very different using a triple groove semi open type with staggered transfer design .Some of the larger displacement ten series only used two grooves . The weak link is the bottom exit exhaust which causes the same effect as pushing air down a heating duct with a square corner .It about like hitting a brick wall .

Some designs of the ten series engines used a muffler with a round transition which gives the best performance .I'm thinking it might have been on one of he earlier 10-10 with right hand start .

Really though aside from perhaps some work on the ex port and maybe bumping the timing a tad there isn't really much you can do with them .A little bigger carb perhaps depending on what's already on it .

Now try as I may for years I've only came close to getting a Mac 10 series out cut a Stihl .I've gotten close but haven't got er done yet .--I'm not done though ,never say die . ;)
