I've got several about like that picture. Smaller, probably for a hand saw .

The file if you can find one has no teeth except for the wide flats ,none on the edges .Flea bay maybe.

Grandaddy's looked like this one.  Think I still have it.  Grandaddy would set  hand saw and cut 2X4 in 2 strokes that was when a 2x was a 2x.

Dad was saying the way grandpa set them was some tool that set at a angle and a small hammer.

He says it didnt look like this one though.

Setting the tooth with the crosscut saw tooth setting tool.

I found the 2 crosscuts. Both the skinny type. 

The old one grandpa and dad used is indeed broke in half.
The other is like new. Dad said one handle had to be replaced on the like new one because it had been stored by someone before dad setting on that end. Handle had rotted some. New handle in it I cant tell the difference really, to call which was which.
 New handle been in it 35-39 years.

I think I still have a 6 footer in one of my sheds that is missing one handle I've yet to repair .It's a skinny one .My dad had a wider one with more arc but I haven't seen it in 40-50 years ..My sister owns the home place so  it might still be hanging in the barn .No reason to throw it away .
I remember trying to use that thing as kid.It isn't all that easy .
