Hey Al can these carbs be interchanged or switched,what I mean is can I dump a flatty out and drop a tilley in it's place

Yes and no .They interchange but the flat back only has a thumb type primer button where as it's a lock down choke button on the Tillotson .Also the throttle linkage is probabley a tad different between the two .If you are changing one to another from two complete saws it shouldn't be a problem because all the stuff should be there .

Now some of them like the 44 series that used levers instead of buttons I'm not exactly certain of what it would take .Nothing that couldn't  be figured out though most likely .

No their not both Flatbacks one i think has the round shaped housing for the fuel pump and diaphram the other a squarer type housing with a primer both carb types are OK providing you know what your doing.

The flatback has the square type of housing

Holy crap 23.5 lbs. I told you it wore me out to carry it across the parking lot. :o
??? I couldn't imagine packing that saw into the woods!!???? I would have two helpers. One to carry fuel,water,oil, & tools. The other to carry the saw! They could take turns- not to tire themselves out!!! :o LOL. Thanks!
