We did just fine with points for many years. Hard to get the parts now though.

I have a new set of points for it so that is what it will be.  The one I'm using will start in 3-4 pulls but for a 40+ year old saw it will hurt you if it kicks back.

For the bolts on the conrod try 115 inch pounds

My new inch/pound torque wrench came today so I won't need to guess anymore.
