CS380 pull cord assembly
« on: February 07, 2016, 10:57:09 am »
I had to change the cord on my CS380:
I have rewound to coil spring and the cord and placed the cord disc back on the spindle and engaged the spring.
I then place the easy start spring in the locator hole in the cord disc and place the sprocket on that with the spring in the locator hole.
I can then do up the central screw, but if I do it too tight the whole thing binds up tight too loose and the whole assembly blows apart.

I have also been unable to fix the central sprocket into the recess for the flange around the bolt pillar because the spring will not compress and the sprocket catches on the cooling fins in the engine casing.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong please?

Is there a CS380 service manual anywhere?

Thanks!

G.

CS380 appears to be a little poulan or husky.

Is this it?

Yes, that's the one. The McCulloch site does not have the info and their advice is "take it to a service centre"

Not very helpful...

Page 30 or so shows recoil. Looks like it has the assisted start too.

Cheers, I have the spares PDF already, but that central spring will not compress to allow the sprocket to sit within it's recess.
There must be a knack to it I'm missing!
