Meaning if you set the points wide they open sooner advancing the spark or vica versa .Factory advance on any McCulloch is 27 degrees ahead .You can take them out to about 30 before they snap back on you.Much further you have a tough time starting them .Probabley at about 32 advance or so you won't get any spark because the cam notch on the crankshaft won't let the points close .You could file it to make it work but you are just restoring an old saw not making a kart engine .Stay with factory specs .
