I took a look through my junk in the garage and stumbled upon an MDC Walbro from a Mini .Now that one at one time had a kind of tapered screw to hold the throttle plate open .It's probabley in the bottom of the plastic bag the rest of the carb is in .So it goes like this starting at the choke end of the carb .High speed jet,low speed jet ,idle or bumper screw which ever you prefer to call it .

I still haven't had a chance to run it for more than a few seconds at a time, the downside of living in the city with a noise bylaw. Started on first pull today so I can't complain.  Thanks for that carb info, will tune it tomorrow.

Here is the final pic all cleaned up and assembled, I never even spent the $3 on a plug. All elbow grease only and some spray paint. If the things runs ok in the end I might have to pickup a chain and a real plug.

Hey Al, you seem to know a lot about these. maybe you can help with this mm 30.  It was working fine until I decided to rebuild the carb. Now it only starts after 20 pulls and runs for 3 seconds. I'm sure I have a bad combination of hi lo idle or some carb problem. I bought the 4 pc gasket kit and verified that I put it together correctly.

Could be a number of things .Fuel shut off lever set too low,**** fuel line .Impulse hole plugged .Butterfly( throttle plate ) completely closed .

Do a Google on Walbro or Tillotson and pick a small carb, doesn't make a diff which one and look up trouble shooting .All diaphragm carbs work the same with few exceptions .So what ever is wrong with one will also be alike in another make and model .

I did strip it down and the fuel hose is new and the butterfly works as it should.   I don't know what the fuel shut off lever is or the impulse hole but I'll look those up today and report back.  I know its carb related because that is the only thing I messed with and it was running before.  Thanks

You know, my dads old mini 25 has always started every time we've wanted it to. The only thing I can ever remember doing to it in about 35 years is a new rip cord. We were using it a few weeks ago and I happened to ask him if he'd ever even changed the plug on it. He couldn't remember!
