Not to skew off target too much but I tried a Husky mount on a Mac SP81 yesterday .Now I only have a few Husky mounts so others might be different .

On what I had neither the bar tightening hole lined up nor the oil hole lined up .In other words on those it would take some modifications to work .When I get a chance I might see if Stihl mounts using bar stud bushings might be a better option if a Mac mount isn't available .

Back to the subject .I have a Windsor 066 mount 36" .404 .Using bushings it works out for both a large mount Homelite or a large Mac mount .That size Stihl mount uses a wide heel area .Works out fine on my 2100s Homey using the stock 8 pin .404 .On the Mac 125's with that driver count you have to run a 7 tooth rim .

Al you remember that mac 805 I traded you with original 24" bar and chain.  What is that bar mount on that bar? I never paid attention to it.

The 10-series Macs (including that PM805) are all D276/D176/MXT mount.  D176 bars are still available from Oregon up to 28".  Left coast supply carries them as of today.  Baileys still carries them up to 24" last I saw.  Tons of NOS and new D276, D176, and MXT mount bars on eBay and elsewhere too.

"if a Mac mount isn't available" won't be an issue with these saws for years to come.  I can understand wanting to modify a bar (large Husky, etc) that you already have to save $ of course.  A K041 mount bar can often used on a 10-series Mac.  Sometimes the adjuster/oiler holes (which are one in the same) need to be opened a scosh.

You can also use a D096/D196/UXL XL-series Homelite mount (or a D007 Pioneer/Partner/PoulanPro mount) on a 10-series saw with stud spacers ('S' type or ones made from 3/8" hardware store extension springs) if it has oil passages from the adjuster holes to the groove.  UXL usually does (as does most D007 bars).  D096 sometimes does.  Takes a few minutes with a Dremel if the passages aren't already there....

That bar in the PM805 pics above is a Windsor MXT mount (and uses the old 3-rivet style tip).  There are tons of those on eBay right now.  Jon1212 probably still has some too.

I think I'm going to have to take some pics of 10-series saws, bar pads, and bar tails and then restructure this thread as a "McCulloch Bar Mounts" thread to make things a bit clearer for folks.  Will try to put something together this weekend...

I have one, McCulloch I have no idea about .Must be very early, no oil hole so I assume it's one of those oil via the hollow spur gear .Galvanized bar says fortified tip markings and two flying geese .The stud slot is only 5/16" stud size .Number 171 on the heel side .Tightening via two scallops on the side like a  Super 44A bar .

Al that bar may be intended for the BP-1.  This is a question for Mark Heimann.

The BP-1 uses a pin type tensioner. What Al has sounds like a bar for the 33, 35, 39 style of saws. No oil hole remains somewhat of a mystery though.
New ported Husqvarna and Jonsered saws. Woods porting of saws by appointment.

Thanks for the detailed post, I am embarking on a search for bars for my Super 250. I am looking for 36" or 42" user bars. I am thinking the best route to get a few new bars with the Stihl 066 pattern and modify. Is there a current source for bar plates?

Thanks!
Thanks,

I don't know about a current source for bar plates other than e-bay or finding a old dealer somewhere.

The large tail bars with the 5/16 slot could have been for the early 3-25 model saws or the LeSabre, the 33/35/39 power head on its side to make a (left hand) direct drive saw.  All of the 33/35/39 saws I have use 3/8" bar studs.
