We haven't figured that one out yet.  As it has an auto oiler pump, the 'original' model was probably an 840, 890, or 895.  The engine looks to have been swapped.  Exact identification of the engine is still ongoing...

Well I learned something .I figured about mid 60's was the last of the big gear drives ,Guess not that saw was mid 70s'.

With 2 to 1 reduction considering the bar length it would be relatively fast all things considered .The pot licker would be like lifting a bowling ball on the end of a broomstick though .With that bar I'll bet it doesn't miss 50 pounds very far .

Ah.  I've been a member of Magnus' site for years.

Al the Mac gear drives were made until the mid 1970's.  Last one was the 895C.  The mighty Homelite 3100G (gear drive 2100) was made until 1973 or so.  The Homelite Super 1130G and Super Wiz 80 were made until around 1986.  Not much call for gear drives anymore........but in certain circumstances they are the ONLY tool for the job.  Those days are gone now...
