Aha ! If you take a close look at that first pic which is a 10-10 iron cylinder you will see the transfers are at different lengths .

Combine the windowed piston and it varies the direction and velocity of the transfer during its' cycle . The 10 series Mac is the only design that I'm aware of that does this .

i am having a problem with my fuel line kinking when i put the filter and cover on. it's a molded fuel line. i am blaming it on soft lines. it is my second line i bought from two diff sellers. any ideas? ???

you can try to put a spring around the fuel lime where it wants to kink
thats a good idea. thanks :)

I just picked up a couple of these 10 10 saws at the "Princeton snowmobile grass drags swap" in MN  I had them both running shortly after getting home. One is complete and the other needs a bar, kill switch and high idle button.  Short story all ready kind a long --- what would be the correct oil to gas ratio with modern 2 cycle oil? I see 20 to 1 was recommended with 30 weight oil.

They'll run on about any ratio .Back in the day they said either 40 to 1 using McCulloch mix oil or 20 to 1 using 30WT motor oil .

Being old school I use 32 to 1 but any modern mix oil will be fine at the ratios they recommend .

Now just like the reed valve Macs the piston ports will run better if set slightly rich .Not enough to blow black smoke though just a tad bit .

This saw seems to have very good power but I have yet to cut anything.

I got my 10 10 fired up today and cut some green 10 inch poplar.  It cut it way faster than my poulan 1950 would.  Now my next issue is the saw flooding when just sitting.  New carb kit is on it's way.  It seems a stiff diafram is holding the needle from seating??

It's pretty much a given fact that if a saw has sat for any length of time it needs rekitted .More times than not it won't even start after sitting a long spell .Prime, get a few putts ,prime again .Goes on forever .

One of my 10 10's is being a little fussy.  I cleaned the carb and put a gasket kit in but it still does not want to run right.  How good are the seals in these saws?  I'm thinking of taking it apart to make sure everything is OK inside. Compression seems OK.
