« on: December 15, 2012, 03:30:30 pm »
I have a Mac 300 with a hole in the oil tank.  What other saws used the same oil tank?  Thanks

I should have done a better job of explaining.  The hole is on the bottom next to the handle mounts.

McCulloch 300 IPL  http://s30387.gridserver.com/partsDiagrams/McCulloch%20300.pdf

You might check with site member 3000 FPS. He welds stuff on chainsaws like I never have seen before.

This shows how well I know the saw.  Turns out to be the gas tank.  This saw was stuck when I got it as I was only after the recoil.  After soaking for a couple months it now turns but is stiff.  I figured there was hope for this one and then I find the hole.  Darn!!  I still think there is hope.

It's not uncommon for an old saw that has sat for ages to have holes eaten in the gas tank because of galvanic reaction .You can fix them most times with J-B weld .Fact that saw in my avatar had a big hole right in the oil tank front cover .
