Well the nuts that hold the clutch cover on will hold that bar in place even without a tensioner.   When you go to tighten the bar down pull it up tight by the chain and then tighten the nuts.   That way the bar is all the way up and is less likely to move on you when cutting.   Also check the sprocket for excessive wear.
