they're not exactly rare by any means. and are found quite often in better looking shape than that one in your pic. if the engine is free and has good compression, not busted up and has maybe a hint of life in the spark making bits, it might be worth 20-30 bux to somebody for gits and shiggles.

Around here a friend found a runner in the trash. 
I wouldnt give $30-$40 for one myself.

yeah you see them go for stupid money on the bay. but you have to wonder if it's somebody with either 2 accounts or a friend helping build the amount up so somebody else might take the bait and bid blindly.
 i still have a few people come in with these and other way past it's prime saws to see if i'd be interested in working on it. "don't do too much to it, all i need is it to run and make a few cuts" is what i mostly get. they change their mind when they hear how much it is to do that. it's not really a big amount, but they start whining about how they can buy a new saw from canadian tire blah blah blah. then why don't you just go buy one of them then instead of waisting my time?

My buddy had his dads old 35 back in the early 70's when I bought my Poulan S-25 which is only 2.3 cubic inchs .That  teeny little Poulan could get two to three cuts to that old Mac .
To a true McCulloch affectionato they are worth collecting to me they aren't .
