No actually pulling the screen on that thing makes all the difference in the world .

I have the last saw my deceased father ever owned and it is a PM 610 .I don't know exactly what he did to it but in it's day it would out gun a Stihl 042 which is a half a cubic inch larger displacement .

A piston ported Mac really there isn't much that can be done because raising the compression would be very difficult.About the best you could do is maybe widen the exhaust a tad bit . The transfer system is unique from any saw ever made using semi closed transfer grooves through a windowed piston .If the 610 is like most other 10 series style the exhaust port opening is already around 96 degrees after ,high enough .

Yeah my specimen has the screen gone already, maybe that's why it seems a bit strong for a 60cc.

Oh I can match that .This gem looked nearly new .Dead from a bad coil, very low hours .It belongs to my son now .I think including shipping and a new coil I had less than 75 bucks in it .Worth every penny .

The hole under the top right mounting hole is/was the clogged port.

Is this saw the same as the timberbear? I have ran across a couple of those very cheap but built to last for sure. Each needed the oil feed line replaced though.

From my understanding they are close, think the bear is 5cc less. I know at least some parts interchange.

looked it up on acres site and yes the timberbear is a 3.4ci to the 610 being 3.7ci. I was impressed with its power and smooth operation but it is a tank so just like me it could afford to loose a few lbs!

I'm a real big fan of durability. Put a clutch driven bar oil system and you could add another 5 lbs for all o care.
