That's a new one on me . I'm finding out some of the later Mac stuff was sold other places than North America . The Brits for example talk about models I've never heard of .

The time line fits .I speculate perhaps it filled the gap probabley in Oz after the big reed valves went away .

If I'm not mistaken the 82 cc piston port like 805-850 ,8200 was probabley the last larger profssional saw made in North America of a true McCulloch origin when they went out of business in 98-99 or there abouts .

I knew Pardner had their hands in a few but this is the first I've heard that Dolmar was a player also .

Hi, I bought 2 of these chainsaws from Dick Petrikas Chainsaws P/L in (1989/90.) 385 Tennyson Rd Tennyson NSW 2754 02 45765555 and later bought parts for them.
He purchased a bulk load of them when he won the chainsaw dealer of the year & his son often raced these saws in comps. 30inch and 60 inch blades were supplied as an option. I have had over 300 hrs use on mine and still going strong. (sold one 60 inch  bar unit for $1750) :D  I have a copy of the maint manuals available.

AHHH one of the bubblebees as they where known down under. Hot rod dolmars man awesome saws. the posted sae hp numbers for those where the highest ive ever seen for stock saws, however 12.1hp for that saw doesnt sound realistic in stock form. The most powerful saws ever built where mccullochs even though they refused to publish numbers.

I beg to differ.
Stock for Stock the Sachs Dolmar 166 is about the most powerfull
saw ever produced in stock form. I've run them against Mac's
most powerfull saws. The 797's and 125's. Mac's are great
performers with lots or torque and can easily pull bars that
excede 60 inchers. But the 166 will still out cut them. I've run
the 166's in good sized wood against 797's, 125's, Homelite 2100's
Stihl 084's, 880's, Husky 3120's, Skil 1690's, Jonsereds 111S, ect.
And the 166 always seems to come out on top.

The 166 hasn't worked out so well around here. People that buy them don't keep them very long. Apparently there's not enough really big wood?

It's funny you say that Lee as their only 118cc but have a long stroke giving a bit more torque out here in Australia they were sold in only small numbers and i think Dolmar sold even less than McCulloch did
I am a idiot so my pics disappeared.
