If you looked at those things really the engine design was pretty good .It was the rest of the little thing that left a lot to be desired .

That little Mac Rich is tinkering with looks like a 140 .It's built a little differently  than earlier models and is much easier to work on .

On the original MM 30and 25 with the starter cast into the main housing yes they were an art form and as Rick said they ones with the removable starter assy were a bit easier and the more you do the easier they become.

Mac created a very compack design and credit were credit is due they continued for many years and sold extremely well especially to home-owners

Rick done a good job showing how easy they really are
I am a idiot so my pics disappeared.

They didn't have ball main bearings there were rollers even with the newer 3214. The Stihl MS200T is somewhat copied after them?

I have a mini mac 110...yup rather 'fun' to work on but not impossible.  I had the same problem with the oiler working at all (manual or auto) and really hard to blow into it so I pulled it off and completely disassembled it.  The problem was that the metal tube in the middle was blocked with sawdust.  I grabbed it gently with a pair of vise grips and wiggled it out.  Do this carefully as there is a small spring and ball bearing inside it.  I cleaned it out, reinserted it and then pumped away until oil started oozing out the weep hole (I also held the manual oiler down and blew into the reservoir just to make sure oil was getting forced in.   Make sure that when you reinsert this tube that it goes all the way back in.  I tapped it gently until I felt it bottom out.  The last bit is making sure the adjust screw set correctly.  If you haven't messed with the screw, it should be ok.  I messed with mine and that added an extra variable (that I didn't need) and now it pukes too much oil and i'll have to fiddle with it to find the right setting.
Hope this helps and I can send pics if needed.

Hi Al, my latest Mac is a little used 650. Runs good has ~150 comp. Damn thing won't oil. The diaphragm looks OK and is not ruptured and I can force oil to the bar port with air pressure and manually it now oils a bit..... You reference problems with these things too. I have a number of Macs and this is my first oil pump problem.Should I just replace the diaphragm? It looks fine other than a witness / stretch mark from the plunger. I might just switch out one from another saw but.......Ed
Current inventory:
1 Pro Mac 805
2 Pro Mac 700
3 Pro Mac 650
1 Pro Mac 610
4 Homelite XL / Super XL12  a couple small Stihls etc. Wife not pleased. They are all runners though!

Why you keep putting this here. I moved your last post to it's own thread. Pro Mac 650. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/mcculloch/pro-mac-650/  Will move this too once you read it.
