more mac parts
« on: August 29, 2013, 02:03:11 pm »
so last week i picked up more mcculloch parts

went to pick up a couple parts riding mowers to have extra pieces on hand, ended up in a conversation with the guys next door neighbor who used to own a mcculloch dealership up until 1991. loads to go through for me now :) i now have the largest inventory of mac parts in ontario 8)
there is a bunch of pioneer, jonsered and husky parts in there aswell. but imma not worried about them infecting the good stuff ;D
now i need to go through it all and see what is worth keeping.
anything mini mac related is going to the dump. ;)

al, i used to love having to set one of these up when somebody came through wanting one. bob's mcculloch (st. albert alberta, closed in '89) would sell one maybe every 3-4 months. when i moved here to brockville on., bentons was selling one almost every week. they were cheaply priced ($370ish), so people figured for only 40bux more than a pm700, and anti-vibe to boot, it was the saw to have. and to top that off, what was out from the other companies, this saw flat out hauled a$$ and was cheaper to run and cheaper to fix. even by today's standards, they still make excelent power for their weight. we sold ALOT of them with 18-20" bar/chains :D
the one in the pic run well. the pioneer p50 is close on power, but the 850 still has noticably more torque. keep the chain speed up on the pioneer and they cut very close. almost the same.
the 850 is going to need anti-vibe work soon. their still alright for a good while, but when they start going, it's a downward slope. and she burns a little bar oil on start up.

I sit here drooling green with envy    Looks like a Titan 57 and double eagle 50 sitting on the trailer as well Hope you get a good coil out of it they are hard to find. Congrats on the 850 love mine but she seeps bar oil into the saw and requires plug removal and cranking before being fired up after a long break. Have another to put back together finally got all the bits I wanted. Any bullfrog carb kits

Whoa! don't chuck that mini stuff just yet.  Anything for a mini 25?  :) Or, how about a thrust spring washer for a D44?  Mac part #103718.

so going through some of the stuff today...
I have 8 nos coils for the titan 50/57 saws. if anybody needs one let me know as i'm going to throw most of the stuff in the storage shed I have and it'll be a bit of a chore to get to later if it's stuck in there far enough :)
also, if you need something else, let me know so I can look to see if I do have it.
I don't have any 'bullfrog' carbs or kits. actually very little stuff older than the mid--late '70's or so.
throw me a description and a part number. a pic would help as I still have to pick up the rolodex and part books.
there is a sheet load of stuff I still don't know I have ;D
