Is it safe to "assume" a sprocket tip would be better than a hardend tip??

Depends on how you look at it . With a hard tip you just run the chain a tad bit more loose . They do just fine if you get enough oil on them .

I have a 34 inch hard tip and chain on the way.  My running 805 got a 5 hour workout in 90 degree temps helping my uncle clean up some of his storm mess. The saw ran great the whole time, starting and idling the way I hoped it would. I was plum worn out at the end of the day and it was barely a good start. He has some big old trees that got all torn up and need to come down. I'm hoping for cooler weather. My Echo pole saw was also a big help.

The 82 cc Macs really aren't bad at all if they run right .When I get some time I'll delve into my 805 and find out what's up with it .

Slightly off the subject but just recently I gave a 700 a little run . Now it will not even come close to out cutting the Stihl 038 mag but that thing runs with bar buried to the hilt and pull like a Georgia mule . What the piston ported Macs lacked in RPM's they made up for in torque . That was with a 20, my SP 81 will pull that way with a 32" .

Up date on the 805 . I tore it down yesterday .Evidently some  how I must have screwed up .

Either it sucked in a piece of metal, sawdust something and looks like it snagged the piston on the exhaust side or it snagged the port .The cylinder might be salvagable but the piston is toast for all intents . I could have dropped something in it when I changed the oil pump pump but I'll never know.

Just chit that happens ,a deal but when you mess  with a bunch of saws it's bound to happened given enough time . Got my eye on a couple of 850s' to just park one inside of the 805 shrouding .Never say die  ;)

Ha I've had them annoy me so much I have  banished them to the shelf to punish them .Once it took me two years to get over my pout only to find out I had a carb diaphragm spacer gasket installed on the wrong side of the diaphragm, duh .

I've found that the only people who don't screw up are the ones that don't do anything ,arm chair quarter backs . ;D

LOL, I'm pushing it a little hard today with some quality time with the 805.  What would be the prefered sealer for the crank case.  I have some "Yamabond" that works well for 2 cycle sled engines. also the plate that sits between the jug and gas tank has a mounting tab busted off.  Can I tig weld it or should I play it safe with some JB weld and just hope??

Thanks
