Another short coming of the bottom exit muffler used on all of the 10 series is the fact the exhaust has to basically make two 90 degree bends to get out .

I've never as yet seen a tank type oil pump leak real badly but some will over time .The oil will  clog the screen and carbon  up the ex side of the piston chewing away at  the piston .I've only seen this though on the pm 610 style that used an external diaphragm pump .

Whatever caused it to stop running had to have happened very early on or the saw had sat for a condsiderable time unused  since about new .The cosmetic appearence  shows that real clearly .

I could speculate a lot of things but would probabley be incorrect .If arraingements can be made perhaps this coming weekend I can get my hot little hands on it and know for sure . It could be a 15 minute deal or a teardown, you never know . I probabley have a new set of rings some place in all that mess .

Then again they could be a little sticky from sitting so long .My sp -81 could be spun over at first with no decomp . After a new lease on life and some running time it will snap your fingers if you try that now .Mean little rascal .
