I saw a Homelite 150 hydrolock.  Bad oiler diaphragm.  Was at the 'reuse' area of the local dump.  I looked it over, pulled a couple times, and set it down.  Could feel it getting harder to pull over with each pull........and bar oil was pouring out of the muffler.  I can't stand 150's anyways.......although I should have grabbed it for the nice Windsor Speed Tip and rim drive drum that was on it (since I could have used those on one of my Super E-Z's).   Watched some yahoo pull and pull and pull until it crunched.  Dumbass....

Had my promac 850 smack me in the side of the face while doing a dropstart after pulling it from storage a while back. Had to pull the plug and crank out the oil now store it bar down. I have 2 and the other must have been sucking in bar oil as well because minor scoring on the piston and a large lump of carbon in the exhaust port.
Finally got a muffler for that one. Dont drop start my bigger saws anymore if that thing had fired i would have been up shitcreek

On most 10-series saws including your PM850, the mounting gasket for the auto oiler pump (which is inside the tank) often leaks and the saw draws bar oil in through the impulse passage.  Had to do with the lousy mounting screw arrangement for the pumps on most 10-series saws.  Mac tried a few 'fixes' for the problem that they'd created.  They used a thick synthetic rubber gasket and two different spring steel clip/brace thingees that pushed against the wall of the oil tank to increase (and even out) mounting pressure for the pump.  They tried these three 'fixes' at various times.

Early saws have three mounting screws.  THAT is the right way to do it.  Mac eliminated two of the three mounting screws so that the pump could be removed/installed without removing the fuel tank.  A few dedicated Mac guys are developing drilling jigs to facilitate drilling the second two mounting holes in the oil tank casting, and installation of those two additional screws (that should never have been eliminated).  We wisely trade a bit of convenience in exchange for no more bar oil in the crankcase/cylinder...
