The 8n's and Fergueson To 20-30 are almost impossible to kill unless they get mistreated .

The early Te 20 Fergies were made in England and had that lousy Lucas electric system .The later ones made in Dearborn Mich had Autolite or Delco .

Most you see running today have upgraded to 12 volt using a GM one wire alternator .Both of mine vintage 1950 and 51 are 12 volt .The 6 volt starter hold up you just have to change the brushs every few years .


Running on 12 volts they will burn the ignition points too unless you either use a  12 volt coil or install a ballast resistor in series with the coil .
