Thnx

It's 190cc or 11.6 cubic inches and 6.75 Ft/Lbs torque

It has a four ring piston looking at the IPL.

If the rings are gummed even just a little on these newer engines you will get blow-by as they are pretty low comp anyway to allow "easy starts".....I will say though running correctly these thumpers((big bore, low comp)are like the old 500 caddy's, lots of grunt.  They will take on some tall grass! .....anywho my dixon ram44 killed 2out of 3 spindles ending last season so checked prices for new assemblies and WOW! $230 for the center& $180 for the outs! ..........did some checking and previous + newer models used a similar setup where only the spindle housing itself was different, same bearings, pulleys & shafts so,.......found oregon made aftermarket replacements for this other, bought all 3 new for less than $180 delivered, made mounting plates to adapt new spindles to old deck and mowing like a champ with 3new spindles and about 400bucksyou less!
Trapped in time, surrounded by evil, low on gas

They have a valve shift assembley which holds the exhaust valve open which allows the easy spin start .Once they start the comp is the same as a non easy spin .It certainly makes a difference in pulling one over with a recoil starter.

On the electric start Briggs the solid state coils have a built in spark retard for starting .If the coil fails it will flat lock up the starter ,It just can't spin it on full advance .The smoke tries to leak out .Once it's all gone the starter stops working ,magic smoke . ;)

Problem is once the smoke is all gone you can't shove it back in .

The smoke will get out even if it has to swell up and burst the case?

Ha Briggs starters are not the most robustly made electrical devices in the world .After a number of years the bushings go out and they run so hot it can melt the brush holders .

Being a tight wad I've actually cut over sized brass bushing for  them --it worked .In the mean time though I've amassed about a two gallon bucket full of dead ones I can't seem to part with .Danged perminant magnet pole pieces crack out and a number of things .

A little tip for those who don't know .You might think you have a bad coil but often times on a dragging starter they won't fire unless the cranking speed is at least 400 RPM .I've got a coffee can full of old coils I thought were bad which aren't .They say an education comes with a price ,how true .

I mowed about 1/2 tank of gas through that 190cc 675 series B&S engine this morning and the oil was out of reach of the dip stick. So I guess it is a goner?
